New Innovations in OpenText Application Quality Management 25.1

by   in DevOps Cloud

OpenText Application Quality Management continues to evolve, delivering powerful new features to meet the dynamic needs of modern organizations. Six key areas below expound on the latest advancements, aimed at enhancing compliance and efficiency for customers:

  1. AI-Based Suggestions for Manual Tests

Manual testing remains a crucial aspect of software quality assurance, but it can often be time-consuming and prone to human error. To address this, OpenText Application Quality Management introduces AI-based suggestions for manual tests. This innovation leverages artificial intelligence to provide testers with context-aware recommendations, helping them design, execute, and improve manual test cases more efficiently. By simplifying test creation and execution, this feature empowers QA teams to focus on critical test scenarios and achieve higher-quality results with less effort.

  1. Web Client Updates

The Web Client updates introduce several enhancements, including a fully functional Dashboard module for creating and managing dashboards, improved Test Plan features like defining parameters for tests and mass updating manual tests, and streamlined navigation with the "Go to Requirement" feature. Cross-module updates enable entity sharing via URLs or email, user-friendly indicators like dots for tab contents, and entity name displays in reference fields. Customization capabilities now include global TDConnection object usage, expanded project scripting options, and custom toolbar buttons, enhancing flexibility and efficiency for test management and navigation.

  1. Desktop Client Updates

The Desktop Client updates focus on improving efficiency and collaboration. Users can now export tests, including design steps, to Excel using custom or default templates. Project reporting capabilities have been enhanced with options to download reports as zip packages, adjust embedded image sizes via new parameters, and compress images to reduce report sizes. Additionally, changes to the History tab enable users to track the origin of modifications and maintain detailed change logs for entity folders.

  1. Expanded Site Administration

The updates in Site Administration, REST API, and Auditing for ALM 25.1 enhance control, flexibility, and tracking capabilities.

In Site Administration, new features include restricting user property modifications with the READ_ONLY_USER_PROPERTIES parameter and a Contract Expiration Date attribute for SaaS customers, along with enhanced admin reports providing detailed project data.

The REST API now allows purging versioning history by date or version and retrieving user group information when querying project users.

Auditing improvements include logging changes to user properties, test folders, and test set folders, with system audit logs now accessible via database tables using the AUDIT_LOG_LOCATION parameter. These updates collectively improve administrative oversight, API functionality, and audit traceability.

  1. E-Signature Support Across All Application Quality Clients

For organizations operating in highly regulated industries, compliance is non-negotiable. This solution now offers e-signature support for Web Client Requirement module. This functionality enables secure, traceable approvals directly within the system, ensuring adherence to strict regulatory standards such as FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and other industry-specific requirements. By integrating e-signatures seamlessly into the quality management workflow, organizations can streamline compliance processes, reduce administrative overhead, and ensure audit readiness at all times. 1. Bonus Features

25.1 introduces performance enhancements, including faster browsing of entity attachments using an FTP client, reducing JVP heap usage on both Windows and Linux systems. The release also announces the deprecation of JDK/JRE 8 and 11, urging users to align with updated support requirements. These updates aim to improve efficiency and compatibility across the platform.
