Is it Really Time to Modernize Your Search Application?

by in Data Analytics

There are very few software tools that you can just plug in and forget. Yet, it appears that many organizations seem to think that search tools fit into this category. I am here to tell you they really don’t and failing to modernize your search tool as you update your stack can be costing your organization much more than you might think in both time and money.

Dated search tools can make it difficult for employees and customers alike to find the documents they need to make informed decisions. In fact, IDC and McKinsey have estimated that between 15% to 30% of knowledge workers’ time is wasted searching for the information they need to do their job. And that is looking for information they know exists. As the old saying goes, “you don’t know what you don’t know.” If a user does not find what they are looking for on an initial search, they may assume it doesn’t exist. This can mean lost opportunities, and duplicated efforts.

Furthermore, as more and more organizations are choosing to adopt multi-cloud and hybrid IT approaches to meet their customer demands. While this approach allows for a more dynamic stack to meet organizational needs, many legacy search tools cannot cope with these complexities.

The newer AI-enabled search tools, such as Micro Focus IDOL, that leverage machine learning, optical character recognition, and natural language question-answering techniques and technologies enable users to discover new contextualized insights and be more efficient, and effective.

In his recent webinar, Rameez Meerasahib - Global CTO, Data Analytics, AI, ML & IoT Solutions - walks us through the best practices and a proven methodology to modernize your enterprise search and knowledge discovery systems using applied artificial intelligence platforms and why many organizations with the most complex data needs choose Micro Focus IDOL for their search applications.
