IDConsole - LDAP Server Refresh discussion

This was posted in a thread:

LDAP Plugin - On the LDAP Server page there is no Refresh LDAP server option. Nor does it do it when you save the changes. You have to go into ndstrace and unload nldap and then load nldap to refresh it.

Likely this is because that is an NCP action and Angular supports only TCP and REST so I get it. Likely this will need an LDAP Extension added in an eDir patch, like were done to allow the IDM actions via LDAP. And is non-trivial. Nonetheless it is needed.

I do also understand there is an enhancement request for this one already entered, but worth calling out for people to vote on.

with the response from Caspar

I've been told that IDconsole 1.9 will make the LDAP server refresh when you save the changes you made. There for there is no reason for a [refresh] button as with iManager.

I will say from personal experience, (eDir 9.3, IDConsole 1.9( watching ndstrace, I did not see this happen but I will look again to confirm.

I wonder if it requires an actual change or simply Save. IDConsole seems to have a 'bug' or 'feature' that it re-writes all the data every time, instead of just anything that changed.  (Simpler to code the re-write everything approach of course, and budgets and time, etc...)

And sorry, Caspar, I am going to delete your post on the  main thread, hoping this is ok, in terms of discussing it.
