Fortify WebInspect Installation

I have installed WebInspect (Named user) onto a Windows Server 2022. Only one person (the one who did the install) can open WebInspect without the activation screen coming up. Why can't anyone else run WebInspect? Our scanner uses do not have admin rights on the machine, so all software has to be installed and activated by an admin. Now none of our security analysts can operate the scanner.

That is the purpose of a Named User license in WebInspect. Only one person, or whatever the limit is on your license allows, can access the application. You could have the admin release the license and this would allow someone else to use the application.

If you have multiple users needing access to the same instance of WebInspect there are other license types available, or you can purchase more instances of the Name User license. But based on what you are describing, you only have one instance of a Named User license. I would reach out to your sales representative for other options available.

Roger that, thanks Ethan. I figured that might be the case.
