IG 4.3.1 Starting an arbitrary workflow

In version 4.3.1, is the mechanism to start a workflow arbitrary, or is it always tied to a specific permission request or review process? Is this type of review process still possible?

It seemed to be available in previous versions, where the workflow would show as an option. However, in version 4.3.1, it is not displaying.

This was addressed in a previous thread: Starting an Arbitrary Workflow on Micro Focus Community.

Looked to be done in previous version ( Where workflow would should as an option). However, in 4.3.1. it is not showing.

    Hello,
Utilizing the External Workflow Service is only available for certain "actions". For Example: Approval step within Access Request, Remediation for certain Data Polices, or Fulfillment. This is the same answer I provided in the thread that you referenced.

    Hello Steven,

As shown in the screenshot, the workflow option is not appearing in the "Approval step within Access Request" example. Could you clarify why this might be happening?

    Hello,

    1) Is External Workflow Service isntalled?

    If yes:

    2) Is it installed on the same Tomcat server as Identity Governance or a different server?

    3) Was it installed at the same time as Identity Governance or seperately?

4.a) What Authoriziations from under Configuration -> Authorization Assignments have been assigned to the user from the screenshot?

4.b) Start the Developer Tools -> network tab. Refresh the page and filter on /whoami. In the response, provide the grantedAuthorities values.

    Hello Steve,

Thanks for the guidance. I’ve confirmed points 1-4.a:

The External Workflow Service is installed.
It’s on the same Tomcat server as Identity Governance.
It was not installed at the same time as Identity Governance but on same server.
The user has Global Admin rights and the necessary Workflow Admin rights.

Next, I’ll open Developer Tools, filter on /whoami in the network tab, and provide the grantedAuthorities values from the response.

    Thanks again for your support.

    Best regards,
