Unable to initialize JClient:

Good day,

Customer is trying to install iManager 3.2.6 on a SLES12-SP5 server, they had iManager 2.7.7 on the server previously, and we thought that we had cleared everything off the server before installing of the iManager 3.2.6 but there appears to be a an issue still as we are seeing the following error when attempting to log into iManager

Unable to initialize JClient: java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /var/opt/novell/iManager/nps/WEB-INF/bin/linux/libJClient.so.1.0.0: /opt/netiq/common/openssl/lib64/libssl.so.1.0.0-mf: version `OPENSSL_1.0.0' not found (required by /usr/lib64/libldap_r-2.4.so.2)

We're also going to be try to move them towards Identity Console 1.7.1 but they were going to be transitioning over to IDC slowly.

Thank you,

    Good day,

According to what one of our engineers found was the following:

Fwiw: the release notes for iManager 3.2* does not list SLES12 as a supported OS. Minimum SLES version listed is SLES15 SP1; minimum RHEL version is RHEL8

So the customer is going to rebuild the server as a SLES15-SP1 server for the time being, and move to SLES15-SPx once they have another project finished that takes precedence.

Much appreciate your response, and time in this matter. Will update this issue if there are any other developments, but again for now they are going to be moving/rebuilding to SLES15-SP1.

    Thank you,

Of course it's supported on SLES12SP5. And 3.2.6p3 is what you get from a fully patched OES2018SP3 box.

    Good day,

You are absolutely correct that is indeed supported according to the documentation link that you provided.

Not sure how our engineer missed that

    SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 SP3, SP4 and SP5 (64-bit)

Supported on later versions of support packs

iManager runs only in 64-bit mode.

That being said, the customer that tried to install this version, also attempted to remove the old version, not sure why he did that or what process was used to remove things, so I really don't have much to go on in this case, that person is now out on vacation so troubleshooting becomes problematic.

Not sure what the next steps are, in some ways I think the rebuilding of the server to SLES15-SP1 is the least path of resistance since again not really sure what methodology was used in the pre-steps.

Please let me know if you have any other questions/concerns.

Does this box host eDirectory? Or is it only intended for iManager? In any case SLES15SP1 wouldn't be a good idea...

    Good day,

No this box doesn't host any other services on it, as I understand it just an iManager server on it's own. They are currently limited as to the SLES versions they can move to because they manage their systems using ZCM and sadly that software also needs to be updated, and the only version of SLES15 that is supported at this time is SP1.

    Thank you,

Given that there's general support for SLES12SP5 for another year while SLES15SP1 went out of support in Jan 2021i'd guess it's an easy choice...
