Unable to connect to the remote server and NFR engine failed

Hello,

Just finished a fresh installation of NFR 2.0 on a Windows 2008 R2 server.
PostgreSQL Database and NFR Engine in an eDirectory Environment are installed on the same Windows 2008 R2 server.

The installation was successful.

Next, I launch the Administrative interface and the login screen appears. I fill the credentials with my FDN username (member of the NFR Admins group) .... and ... "Unable to connect to the remote server".

I check the services and NFR Engine is not started, I start it ... but after a few second the status is again "not started".

Any ideas to help me ?

Thanks

    olidub,

Are there any lines in your Engine log file (C:\ProgramData\Novell\File
Reporter\Engine\log\nfrengine.log) during the startup process which end
in a "Result = <non-zero number>"? If so, could you post those and a
couple lines above and below that?

Alternatively, you could email that log file to filereporter@novell.com
and we can troubleshoot it from there.

    olidub,

These two lines indicate where the problem lies. Error '220' means "The
Novell eDirectory tree or server name could not be resolved or is
invalid." Make sure that your NFR Engine server's Novell Client has
    valid SLP information.

To do so, right-click the Novell Client icon in the system tray, select
"Properties...", and then choose the Service Location tab. Fill in all
the appropriate scope and DA information for your tree or trees, making
sure to click 'Add' each time, and then hit 'OK'. You'll be prompted to
restart the server; please go ahead and do so at your earliest convenience.

    Hello,

Thank you for your answer. I've checked the SLP information of my Novell Client and the SLP was already configured correctly.

Next I've reading the documentation and check carefully every step ... and I've found the problem in the screen to create the eDirectory service accounts. As Default Server Address I've used the DNS hostname instead the IP address.

    olidub,

Interesting. If your DNS is working properly that should still work. I
take it changing your default server address to the IP address resolved
    your problem?

    Exact.

My DNS is working properly, but I need to change the default server address to the IP address.
