"You must enable remote login before installing Advanced Authentication Mac OS X Client"

I'm struggling to understand a specific part in the the Mac OS X Client Installation Guide [1].

In the part talking about Configuring the Mandatory Settings [2] it says: "To configure the Mac recovery, see Enabling Remote Login"
What is this 'the Mac recovery'?

Also, the guide says "You must enable the remote login before installing Advanced Authentication Mac OS X Client" [3]

Is enabling ssh really necessary on all macOS boxes? I've done a quick test on a macOS Intel 13.6.7 with NetIQ 6.4.SP3 and I could install and use NetIQ Advanced Authentication while ssh was off...Or...is the official standpoint: to use NetIQ Advanced Authentication on macOS and be entitled to receive support from OpenText, you must follow the guidelines and therefore enable remote login/ssh on macOS devices.

    Hello Herwin,

    It is a safety mechanism.

This is from a previous version of the client:

If MacOS logon was broken and you are not able to log on to uninstall the NetIQ MacOS Client, please follow the steps to perform the Mac recovery:

    1. Log on to the Mac using ssh.

    2. Switch to the folder: /Applications/LogonScreen/data/scripts/.

    3. Run the recovery.sh script.

So basically you should do this to avoid being locked out of the client.

    Thanks.

    Regards,
