Personally I haven't tested it and I can't test it right now (not in my lab) , but I do not see why not.

The guide says: 'Mount the Advanced Authentication installation ISO file and boot the machine.'

So it the BIOS allows you to boot up the system from USB it should work.

I can test this tomorrow to confirm.

Perhaps others can also confirm.

Thank you from the prompt reply, the reason I ask is because someone from Microfocus said that I still need a virtualization platform and it is not possible to boot it from USB directly. So I just need to validate if this is true or not. Thanks btw, it would be very much appreciated if you can test, unfortunately I don’t have a hardware to confirm if this is possible or not.

I have an update. It can be done, but we do not recommend it, as a virtual environment offers more flexibility in terms of backup, upgrade, restore, scalability, etc.

A physical machine will be more difficult to backup, maintain, upgrade, extend its memory, disk, etc.

Please follow the guidelines stated in this document regarding the Appliance requirements. Anything outside those specs is not supported as it has not been tested:

Hi Luc,

Thank you very much for confirming. This one of the clients concern since they dont want to acquire  additional VMWare license for the hardware. Now we can relay to them that installing/booting it via usb is possible but not recommended. Again thank you for the help, this is very much appreciated.
